Abstract_Prasad SHASTRI_Evolving Materials with New Property Profiles through Ground-Up Engineering for Biomedical and Sustainable Applications

ABSTRACT

The properties of materials evolve from the molecular organization the molecular structure can translate into higher order structures, that bestow properties that are not obvious or inconceivable. The control over phase organization has remained an important aspect of engineering of advanced materials. In this talk, strategies to drive predictable organization of polymers in both biological and synthetic systems through deliberate ground up molecular-level engineering will be presented. Furthermore, the exploitation of these new advanced class of biomaterials in applications ranging from biomedical to sustainable materials engineering will be presented and discussed.
